Making A difference

Composer Aaron Copland once stated,

"so long as the human spirit thrives on this planet, music in some living form will accompany and sustain it and give it expressive meaning."

Inspired by the resiliency of our community during the early days of the pandemic, Emerald City Music expanded our outreach efforts to bring uplifting and sustaining musical experience to as many community members as possible. Through dozens of partnerships with many of the region's artistic, social, and educational institutions, we used music as a tool to create hope, change, and transformation in the Pacific Northwest. Partnerships involved many of the region’s nonprofit institutions, including:
Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra, Drexel House, Family Support Center, Interfaith Works, Tumwater School District, the Olympia Symphony Orchestra, Providence Medical Center of Everett, Mirabella Retirement, Skyline Retirement, Panorama Retirement, and Evergreen Treatment Services.

Our Fall 2020 brought over sixty classical music events to the communities of Seattle and Olympia during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Partner with seventeen regional arts organizations to launch the first-ever city-wide virtual arts festival, THIS IS BEETHOVEN
  • Teach composition to 45 students in the Tumwater School District, resulting in a brand new piece realized by composer Brad Balliett, “Pastures of Plenty”
  • Perform on the virtual stage, with four openly-accessible virtual concerts featuring our seven artists-in-residence, and over thirty past ECM musicians.
  • Launch our raved-about Wine Down Monday series, bringing hundreds of listeners together from all over the nation to hear music, stories, and more.
  • Bring nineteen full-length virtual shows to retirement homes
  • Partner with Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra to provide masterclasses to Concerto Competition finalists, building the next generation of musicians locally.
  • Serve those in need in our community by bringing live music to hospitals, transitional housing facilities, and rehabilitation treatment centers.
