The Story

December 17, 2020 is the official celebrated birthday of the composer-legend Ludwig van Beethoven, so we decided to throw a party. All week long, Emerald City Music and the acclaimed Miró Quartet celebrate Beethoven through his greatest accomplishment: the sixteen string quartets. The Miró Quartet, fresh off recording all sixteen quartets over the last decade at Bastyr University Chapel (Seattle), finishes their US Tour of the quartet cycle here in the Pacific Northwest, where their journey of Beethoven began. Over nine marathon days, experience the life of Beethoven from his youthful op. 18 quartets, the definitive Razumovsky quartets, to the heart-wrenching late quartets. Come after work, grab a beer, and delve into this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The Artists

The Miró Quartet: Daniel Ching, violin • William Fedkenhauer, violin • John Largess, viola •  Joshua Gindele, cello
